Cancer Center Office of Communications

An important feature of an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center is a commitment to informing the public at large, patients and families, and health professionals about our work and about cancer research, treatment, prevention and early detection. The Office of Communications is charged with supporting this commitment and with positioning Vanderbilt-Ingram in the minds of our key audiences as:

  • The region’s leading provider of the highest quality, most innovative and compassionate care for cancer patients, families and survivors
  • One of the nation’s most progressive centers for high-impact cancer research and a leader in the national cancer program
  • The preferred cancer-related charity for philanthropic support
  • A wide range of strategies and tactics are used to accomplish the office’s work, including news media relations; publications such the VUMC Reporter, Momentum magazine, and Research Highlights; the web; paid advertising; community events and health fairs; and other communications tools including videos, brochures and newsletters. Importantly, the Office is also charged with ensuring that Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s brand standards for logo usage and message/tone are consistently reflected in all our communications.

The Office of Communications includes:

  • Cynthia Floyd Manley, Cancer Center Associate Director for Communications; editor-in-chief/Momentum magazine; and acting marketing manager.
  • Dagny Stuart, Information and Media Relations Officer
  • Anna Belle Leiserson, Web Coordinator for vicc.org and related websites
  • Gwyneth McEuen, Graphic Services Manager

The office also includes part-time support from Jill Forbert, Marketing Outreach Coordinator, and works closely with colleagues in News and Public Affairs, Marketing, Corporate Relations, Marketing Outreach, Patient and Community Education, Office of Minority Affairs, Development, Physician Liaison Office, Government Relations, and Strategic Planning. Representatives from many of these areas meet regularly to share ideas, discuss issues of common interest and ensure that Vanderbilt-Ingram is supported by a comprehensive and coordinated communications program.
