In the Community: An Overview
The fight against cancer is too daunting to be won by a single person, family, hospital or research center. We are dedicated to working with others throughout our community to eliminate cancer and the suffering it causes. For instance, we:
- Partner with local physicians and hospitals to provide clinical trials in hometowns throughout Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Florida through our Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Affiliate Network.
- Collaborate with Meharry Medical College, Tennessee State University, the Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship, NAACP and others to ensure that cancer advances are available to all communities regardless of race, culture, education or socioeconomic status.
- Work with local partners to meet the community’s needs for cancer education, prevention and support.
- Are leaders and collaborators nationally and internationally through such groups as:
National Institute of Medicine Cancer Policy Forum
National Cancer Institute's Board of Scientific Advisors
American Society of Clinical Oncology
American Association for Cancer Research
Association of American Cancer Institutes
Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group
Radiation Therapy Oncology Group
Children’s Oncology Group
National Cancer Institute Public Affairs & Marketing Network
