- Objective: To identify the prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency and vitamin D deficiency in the first year post transplant. To identify host, treatment, dietary and environmental risk factors for vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency. Identify abnormalities in bone turnover and their association with vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency. Develop a biorepository of cryopreserved pre-transplant peripheral blood lymphocytes for the future evaluation of vitamin D receptor genetic polymorphisms.
