Clinical Trial VICCTHN1164
Title
Molecular Profiles for Lung Cancer Pathogenesis and Detection
Principal Investigator(s)
Details
- Protocol No. VICCTHN1164
- Open Date: 11/04/2011
- Staging: NA
- Age Group: Adults
- Scope: National
- Objective: Specific Aim 1: To increase our understanding of the molecular basis of the pathogenesis of lung cancer in the "field of cancerization" that develops in current and former smokers at mRNA, microRNA, DNA and protein levels. Specific Aim 2: To increase our understanding of the role of tumor-initiating stem/progenitor cells in the pathogenesis of lung cancer in the "field of cancerization" that develops in current and former smokers. Specific Aim 3: Test mRNA, microRNA, DNA and protein-based biomarkers capable of diagnosing lung cancer in current and former smokers undergoing bronchoscopy for a radiologic abnormality in both bronchoscopy specimens and specimens from minimally invasive sites (buccal and nasal epithelium).
