Ali Schaffer, LCSW, is the manager of Patient and Family-Centered Care at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC). In this role, she oversees the management of the Patient and Family Resource Center, clinic volunteers, pet therapy, and the Vanderbilt Oncology Expressive Arts Committee. Additionally, Ali collaborates with medical professionals and local and national organizations to plan and implement educational programs for people impacted by cancer.
Ali graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Emory University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. Most recently, she was the social worker in the REACH for Survivorship Clinic at Vanderbilt providing psychosocial support to both pediatric and adult cancer survivors and their families. Additional clinical social work experiences include working in both inpatient and outpatient oncology care settings as well as in community-based oncology support. Her special interests include increasing patient and caregiver education within the healthcare setting and addressing the psychosocial needs of people living with cancer through creative and interactive programming. She is a dynamic national speaker and contributes content for articles and online blogs on a variety of cancer-related topics.
