Dr. Wendel received his Bachelor’s degree from Wabash College in 1992. He then matriculated the Indiana University School of Medicine where he received his M.D. degree in 1996. He trained in general, plastic, and burn surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine from 1996 until 2000; after which, he completed a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2002. Dr. Wendel joined the full-time faculty at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2002. In addition, he currently serves as Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Tennessee Valley Veteran’s Hospital. Dr. Wendel routinely gives lectures and teaches medical students and surgical residents. His clinical practice includes broad-based reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. He has a particular interest comprehensive Breast Surgery: Lift, reduction, enhancement, congenital breast deformity and reconstruction. He is a member of several local, regional, and national surgical societies.  Dr. Wendel is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
