Dr. Holt is a medical geneticist who is dually certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Genetics who specializes in hereditary cancer syndromes. Dr. Holt is a medical geneticist who is dually certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Genetics who specializes in hereditary cancer syndromes. He is currently seeing patients in the Hereditary Cancer Clinic in the Department of Medicine's Division of Genetic Medicine. 

As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Dr. Holt’s research interests involve utilizing family health information for clinical decision-making, including the practice of evidence-based, personalized, preventative and genome-informed medicine.  He is also working on integrating Next-Generation Sequencing information into clinical practice.   

Dr. Holt received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Fitchburg State College in 1995, his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002 and his Master's of Science (M.S.) in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University in 2012. He completed a traditional osteopathic rotating internship at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, an Internal Medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco, California and a Clinical Medical Genetics Fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Medical Genetics.

Dr. Holt's clinical experiences include: working as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, a Hospitalist, a Primary Care Physician and Clinical Medical Geneticist. He was a National Library of Medicine sponsored Post-doctoral fellowship from 2009-2012 completing a Master's degree in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University.
