|New Breast Center website:
A key to winning against breast cancer is detecting it early, when there is the greatest chance of cure and the broadest range of treatment options. The Vanderbilt Breast Center is dedicated to helping women maintain breast health at every age. In her 20s and 30s, a woman should have a breast exam by a doctor or clinician, at least every three years. Beginning at age 40, she should have a clinical exam and a screening mammogram every year. And beginning in her 20s, if she chooses self-breast exam, she should ask her doctor or clinician to make sure she’s doing it correctly.
