Music City Mardi Gras Feb. 20 to Benefit Lisa Ross Parker Foundation
The second annual "Music City Mardi Gras: A Celebration of Hope," benefiting the Lisa Ross Parker Foundation, is scheduled on Fat Tuesday, February 20 at City Hall in the Gulch in downtown Nashville featuring the hottest band in Nashville - BURNING LAS VEGAS. Doors open at 7:00 PM with a Mardi Gras costume contest sponsored by Chappy's on Church Restaurant beginning at 7:30 PM. The second annual “Music City Mardi Gras” will again hold a silent auction that will take place throughout the evening with many celebrity items, Titans and Predators memorabilia and various other items to bid on.
The first “Music City Mardi Gras” was a resounding success having raised over $24,000 for the Foundation’s efforts to support families touched by cancer and assisting animal welfare organizations. Just a few of the things that the money raised went towards were buying 27 refrigerators for each of the rooms of the Leukemia Lymphoma Wing (11 North) at Vanderbilt Hospital. Also, more supplies for the “hospital survival kits” were bought for the patients and their families. Donations were also made to several patients to assist with medication and household bills.
The Lisa Ross Parker Foundation is a charitable foundation founded in 2004 by her sister Janet Ross, and operated by Janet and a small group of committed citizens, dedicated to the memory and charitable legacy of Lisa Ross Parker, whose life was taken at age 33 by leukemia. The Foundation’s mission encompasses two things that were most important to Lisa - providing support for families touched by cancer, and assisting animal welfare organizations.
