CanConnect: New Online Cancer Community for Middle Tennessee
June 9, 2008
CanConnect (canconnect.org), a vibrant new website built by and for the cancer community of Middle Tennessee, launched yesterday.
This is not just another website with aging content. A first of its kind, it’s alive — filled with stories, videos and photos – and there for everyone touched by cancer to browse through and help create.
While the site is new, it’s off to a great start. Already it has a little something for everyone affected by cancer. See, for example:
- A video of the Hooping for Hope team hula hooping the Music City Marathon
- First hand stories from cancer survivors, young and not-so-young, with all different types of cancer
- Nashville celebrities lending their musical talents to offer hope for cancer survivors
- Interviews with local authors
- A Google map to help you locate local organizations
You’ll find news, events, tips, resources, strategies and shared stories, connecting you to a larger network of the cancer community. In time, it will be a deep and rich repository of cancer wisdom.
Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is proud to be one of the growing number of trusted local organizations partnering to build CanConnect.
To quote the introductory video, “Whether you’re a cancer patient, survivor, family, friend, community partner, or volunteer, CanConnect is there for you.”
