Fun Run and Walk-A-Thon to Benefit Cancer Center
October 23, 2009
The Dunkin’ Donuts Family Fun Run and Walk-a-thon is slated for Saturday, November 7 in Nashville’s Centennial Park. The event is sponsored by the T.J. Martell Foundation, a national non-profit organization that supports innovative research for leukemia, cancer and AIDS.
The Foundation supports the Frances Williams Preston Laboratories at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. Preston is the national president of the T.J. Martell Foundation, former President and CEO of Nashville-based BMI and a member of the Board of Overseers at VICC.
The 5K run and walk features plenty of food to make up for the calories burned, including breakfast from Dunkin’ Donuts, a picnic from Applebee’s and ice cream provided by Baskin-Robbins.
Kids Zone activities include bungee jumping, a clown, a balloon artist and an 18-foot double slide. Other post race activities include live music, celebrity autographs and a silent auction with sports and entertainment memorabilia.
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race kicks off at 8:00 a.m. All runners/walkers will receive an event T-shirt. For more information, visit http://www.funrunandwalk.com/.
