I really got scared for my daughter and other women when the USPSTF came out with there report. I am 45 years old and found my estrogen driven tumor while doing my self breast exam. I think that one of the most stressful parts of going through breast cancer was not knowing if I had cancer. When I had my biopsy the next 2 days couldn't go fast enough for me. Once I knew what I had to deal with I was still so scared but I felt better knowing. Even Men are found to have a strange mass in their prostrate they have to have a biopsy,or as with any type of cancer. I think that the USPSTF ned to take a harder look at their finding and recant their findings

I find it funny that as the government is trying to have a Public option for medicine they come up with new guidelines. I have heard of 17 year old girls getting breast cancer. I have had friends who survived breast cancer because of early detection.

My best friend was told chemo was an option and that she didn't have to take it; i.e., her insurance didn't want to pay. With these recent task force recommendations, what are insurance companies going to say now? It saddens me that $$ is the bottom line vs. losing a friend or family member. There's just 6 months difference in our ages.

Why wuold they want to take a step backwards? I just lost a dear friend to breast cancer at age 41. Another friend and myself, also 41 years old, have family history of breast cancer. We have each had multiple tumors already removed. What if the we had not had our mammograms just because of our age? Would we have ended up like our friend we just lost because they would not have been caught in time? Unbelievable! We need to push for mammograms to become routine at younger ages, not older!

It will be interesting to see how this plays out because of recent focus on our healthcare system.
My concern is the insurance companies adopting this new thought so they do not have to cover the cost of mammograms. Woman will not get the mammograms based on a physicians recommendation if they have to pay for it out of pocket. I worry breast cancer will not be caught as early if mammograms are not conducted as they have been.
