Cancer Survivors’ Day Highlights
June 21, 2011
More than 350 cancer survivors, caregivers, advocates and health professionals gathered at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center last Saturday (June 18, 2011) to learn, connect and celebrate.
Cancer GPS: Navigating Your Journey included remarks from keynote speaker Linda Armstrong Kelly (author and mother of champion cyclist and survivor Lance Armstrong), music and stories from survivor, songwriter and singer Beth Nielsen Chapman, sessions on a range of issues of interest to survivors and caregivers, and a celebration of life and survivorship.
A highlight of the event was the debut of a new video commemorating the 40th anniversary of the declaration of the War on Cancer by President Nixon and the progress made in the decades since. The video ends by asking what the next 40 years will bring. Please share your thoughts and hopes in the comments section.
Editor’s note: We will post video segments with Linda Armstrong Kelly over the next few days. Check back!
