Clincial Research Description:

My research deals with the use of surgeon performed ultrasound to predict thyroid cancer in patients with indeterminate cytology and to localize parathyroid glands prior to parathyroidectomy. In addition I collaborate with basic scientist to grow thyroid cancer cells and create new thyroid cancer cell lines. With these new thyroid cancer cell lines we have started to study the role of estrogen in thyroid cancer. Ultimately the clinical history will be correlated with the laboratory findings. I am also interested and actively working on the creation of clinical databases (linked to tissue banks) that can be shared nationally and interanationally to better understand rare endocrine surgical diseases.
