Head and Neck Cancer Research Award 2008

Applications are solicited for pilot projects to conduct translational research investigating the causation, prevention, detection or treatment of head and neck cancers. The Head and Neck Cancer Research Award will provide up to $15,000 for a one-year period to support research focused on head and neck cancer. Pilot project funding is open to all investigators at Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical College. Grant proposals will be evaluated by peer review.

The Head and Neck Cancer Research Award is designed to encourage Vanderbilt and Meharry Investigators from multiple specialties and Departments to incorporate head and neck cancer research into ongoing or developing research areas and to encourage use of existing head and neck cancer biospecimen resources. Head and Neck Biospecimens, all with full clinical annotation, are available from over 1200 individual patients and include: serum, plasma, viable lymphocytes from incident and recurrent cases and follow-up visits. Frozen cancer tissue, normal surrounding mucosa and metastases from cervical lymph nodes and buccal cells are also available.

The deadline for submission is November 15th 2007. Guidelines and an application may be downloaded from the VICC Website www.vicc.org or obtained by contacting Michelle Pham: 936-4896 (office) or michelle.pham@vanderbilt.edu (e-mail).
