Vanderbilt Breast Center Offers No-Appointment Screening Mammography

The Vanderbilt Breast Center is committed to making it easier for women to get the gold standard for early breast cancer detection by accommodating walk-in requests for screening mammography. This includes Saturday mornings from 8 a.m.-noon. Screening mammography can detect cancers long before they can be felt, at a stage when a woman has more treatment options and a greater chance for cure.

For Patients who are making their own appointments for screening mammography:

  • Be prepared to provide the name of a current medical provider to whom the report can be sent and through whom any additional evaluation may be directed.
  • Bring films and records from past mammograms if done outside Vanderbilt. If you cannot bring those records, you will be asked to sign a release for Breast Center staff to obtain the records before interpretation of your mammogram.
  • Be aware of and follow your own insurance plan’s requirements. Most plans require a full 365 days between screening mammograms.

Insurance will be billed and all co-pays apply. Patients are responsible for following their plan’s requirements.

The Vanderbilt Breast Center is located in Suite 2500 of the Villages at Vanderbilt, 1500 21st Ave., S. For more information, call (615) 322-2064.
