Second Opinions
Any patient who receives a diagnosis that may indicate cancer or another serious breast condition should consider getting a second opinion. Patients frequently come to the Vanderbilt Breast Center for a second opinion for a variety of reasons. They may have test results that suggest a potential problem and are seeking a more thorough immediate evaluation, perhaps after hearing a physician’s advice of “watchful waiting,” with a recheck in six months. Or, they may have a diagnosis of cancer and are seeking information about the best treatment options.
Whatever their reason for seeking a second opinion, patients can be assured that their test results will be thoroughly reviewed (see What to bring to an appointment) and any additional imaging and clinical examinations necessary to clarify their situation will be pursued (see diagnostic follow-up for a description of these).
Please contact the Vanderbilt Breast Center at 615-322-2064 to make an appointment for a second opinion visit.
