Tumor-Treating Fields Therapy in Preventing Brain Tumors in Patients with Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer

Multiple Cancer Types

This trial studies how well tumor-treating fields therapy works in preventing brain tumors in patients with small cell lung cancer that has spread to other places in the body. Tumor-treating fields therapy involves the use of the NovoTTF-200A which delivers alternating electrical fields, or tumor treating fields, through ceramic discs placed on the head. This electric force may slow and / or reverse tumor growth by disrupting the way cancer cells grow.

Screening Methods for Early Diagnosis of Lung Cancer in Current or Former Smokers

Multiple Cancer Types

This trial studies methods of detecting lung cancer at an earlier stage in current or former smokers with a special type of computed tomography (CT) scan and by testing genes and proteins in biospecimens (blood, urine, sputum, and tissue samples) collected at the time of bronchoscopy (examination of the airway). Analyzing these methods may provide an early detection of lung cancer in current or former smokers when it is more amenable to a cure.

Protocol For A Research Database For Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Other Cellular Therapies and Marrow Toxic Injuries

Hematologic

The primary purpose of the Research Database is to have a comprehensive source of observational data that can be used to study HSC transplantation and cellular therapies. A secondary purpose of the Research Database is to have a comprehensive source of data to study marrow toxic injuries. Objectives: To learn more about what makes stem cell transplants and cellular therapies work well such as: - Determine how well recipients recover from their transplants or cellular therapy; - Determine how recovery after a transplant or cellular therapy can be improved; - Determine how a donor's or recipient's genetics impact recipient recovery after a transplant or cellular therapy; - Determine how access to transplant or cellular therapy for different groups of patients can be improved; - Determine how well donors recover from the collection procedures.
